Sri Narmada Temple or 'Narmada Uthgam Sthal' is  one of the most significant place at Amarkantak.

Probably, in between 10th to 12th century (at "Kalchury Empire") the Narmada temple was established by Reba Nayak after discovering Narmada Udgam Kund at bamboo-clump. In, 1939 King Gulab Singh reconstructed Udgam Kund, Bath Kund and entrance to the temple.

The stone-made temple courtyard consists of an 11 angled Kund circumference 260 hands, 8-10 hands depth comprising stable water and stairs to ghat.

The main attraction of the east-faced temple is black touchstone made statue of devi Narmada has thin hermit body with bright eyes and sharp nose, looking steadfastly to father Lord Shiva at West-side temple. A Bhairabi Chakra headed by Lord Hanumaan is at left side.
