Daughter of Bihar takes oath as Washington State Senator with Gita in hand

Senator Mona Das plans to visit her ancestral home in Dariapur village in Kharagpur division

Her message after taking oath was replete with her love for India and Bihar

She calls Prime Minister Narendra Modi a great and dynamic leader

Mona Das, 47, migrated to the US along with her parents in 1971, when she was just eight months old. A Democrat, in her message on election, she said, "Mahila Kalyan, Sabka Maan! Jai Hind and Bharat Mata ki jai."
